Today I would like to tell you about one nugget of Russian Gamera and the world phenomenon – Mor.Utopia (not a review)

For the first time I met Mor 3-4 years ago, then I was looking for some new and unusual game that he would drag me away and here at some forum one of the users wrote about the mor and praised it in every possible way. Without thinking twice, I downloaded this game, launched and after 10 minutes I turned it off and deleted it. Why? Everything is simple, the game immediately repulsed the young then a desire to play a huge amount of text in it, already an old graphics and an overwhelming atmosphere at that time. After 2 years, having again got into the situation when there was nothing to play, I remembered the game and decided to take it and go through it despite the fact that I did not like it and then I discovered a real masterpiece for myself.

I started the first passage of Dankovsky’s bachelor and a few days later, I might say, woke up! In front of me, I saw a big city that, despite all the losses and suffering, I was saved from the ill-fated infection called the "sand ulcer" and the tormented bachelor, in whose face terrible fatigue was read and some oppressive sadness that I felt and I myself.

This game was delighted. Its history and how the gameplay is inscribed in it. Race over time and death, constantly. I literally felt the fatigue of the bachelor, all day and half night rushing around the city, in an attempt to talk with everyone, and later to save everyone who is dear to you. In an attempt not to die of hunger, it was especially acute that it began to manifest after the 6th day (by this day it is recommended to stock up in supplies). In an attempt not to die of fatigue, when you need to go a little more, and the bell is already husing to go to go to bed, because the hero was nervous, and there are almost no lives, after a clash with a looter.
I was permeated by this hopelessness, when there is little medicine from the disease, and 3 more people need to be saved, each of whom is dear to you and you run, hungry, tired, maybe even sick, on the way, and in my head it only sounds: "Just to have time …"

Well, at the very end, I won’t spoil, but your heart will break out, because you will appear before the results of all your actions and you have to make the latest choice. Here I sat for several hours, weighing all the pros and cons, but I did not come to the final conclusion that it was better and that the whole game is worse and this is, there is no certainty in it and it does not lead the player by the handle, it throws you into a cruel and harsh world and says to save the lives of tens of thousands of people.

Time is your most important enemy in Utopia, it is mercilessly and constantly inserts you sticks into wheels. It is worth hesitating and now, a very close person has died or you missed the opportunity to prevent the spread of infection, or maybe you missed the last opportunity for your own survival.

The game generally plays with the player himself and his desire to plunge into metaphysical. The city is designed so that it constantly forces to wander through labyrinths from fences and obstacles. You think that the gamed design is oversight? As if not! All this is the plan of the senior Cain and the talented architect, because if you set a certain direction of the path, then the direction of thought can also be set. So and with houses, they like they are all built in a similar style, beautiful dumb, two -story mainly, but the people who inhabit them are important, when they enter the new house, he, as it were, gives him a particle, the house adjusts to his nature, and it was interesting how the buildings would fill the people living in them. Here everything has some kind of semantic background, something unshakable, descriptions of objects as superficial and deeper, it is worth only such an object to literally touch. Everything is connected with something, love, for example, adolescents for knives and sharp objects, is due to the prohibition of such things that in turn is explained by a large crime about damage to the flesh, what only menho can do, and this refers us to another, wild people of the steppes, the way that they have their unique culture and language, herbal brides are half-naked, thanks to the ground, thanks to the ground, thanks In general, in general, there is a great respect for the Earth and the lines, which is connected by all our organisms and in general everything that exists in this world.

In general, the city in the Mor is a living organism where each organ is responsible for some actions, even the areas of the city are named after any of the parts of the body, for example, the area "rib", "core", "womb", etc.D.

Any thing has some kind of animation, as if it were living, be it time, a disease, and this, in general, not far from the truth. It is worth going out of the city in the fields filled with the aroma of the flowering twiri, where the grass rustles from the wind, where small funny tarbagans are rushed, where the music is filled with a boar, and the feeling of something peaceful, accusing almost envelops, but if such things are captured at the emotional level, that is, and the personnel is not even unhappy and unattainable, it is impossible and unacceptable. It gives rest that it has been embodied in an inconceivable polyhedron, building that violates all laws of physics, but nevertheless, absolutely real, or the time that it seems like in its special twists, has its physical embodiment in a huge empty cathedral and a small hour stands for every influential character, which, as it were, affects the course of time its existence. And the clock is the point of conservation, which is also significantly regarding the influence of our. And fear, panic from a series of murders, immediately pours out in the search for witches, a phrase that was literally and indirectly, alone in deaths blame a steppe witch on the clay legs of Shabnak-Adyk, and especially impressionable arrange a hunt for the surrounding girls, arranging even one burning on a fire. But, of course, the main character of this work is made in the name – pestilence, plague, gerbil.

No matter how you live in this city, no matter how hard you try, on a certain day the epidemic will come – this is inevitably. There were hints about this, there were suspicions and there was time to prepare. The plague enters its rights and immerses the claws into quarters, which manage to isolate from each other, somehow supporting a certain appearance of organization. Patrols everywhere, not allowing fists and weapons to get out of their areas, are groaning around the patients and marked by infected ones, poison is in black ash right in the air, and the physical embodiment of the infection with a cloud of dust rushes along the roads.

Now let’s talk about what we are fighting with.

A terrible epidemic several years ago already visited the city and now returned again. Then the children came up with “powders”, playing the plague, and some of these “powders” turned out to be effective medicines, although they burned the insides.

This disease is worse than the plague. It arises from nowhere, quickly devastates the quarters and disappears without a trace to appear in another place. It is not stopped by cordons, flamethrowers and antibiotics.

There are very, very many characters in this game and each is spelled out very well, so much so that they are all felt by real people, but I’m not going to paint everyone, because the article will become too big, I will only go through the main characters.

Acquaintance with the bachelor begins with these words:

In the history of mankind, there were disasters that became for people a visual demonstration of the insignificance of their achievements and triumph of invincible evil. The best and smartest participants in these disasters were repeatedly convinced that it is pointless to fight in such circumstances – you can only clench your teeth and put up with your losses. This is a story about how one person performed a miracle and won the enemy, which seemed impossible to defeat.

This man is kind and honest, but too suspicious (although not surprising, given where he is). Bachelor in such a hinterland entered the news that a certain Simon Cain lives here, who is 200 years old, but is not going to die everything. For Dankovsky, this is just a treasure or a miracle, because in the capital he was a researcher in the field of tanatology – the science of death. And Nehilo advanced her like that – the Inquisitor Aglaya Lilich, while still a student, was very impressive that Dankovsky was able to revive a corpse for several minutes a week ago. Nevertheless, the bachelor’s government and his laboratory did not look something, and he is on the verge of termination of research.

Gameplay – the lightest character from the trinity. Can easily get a weapon, has a good reputation and everyone listens to it. I advise you to start acquaintance with the "Mor" from it, so you will better learn local customs and get into the world of the game.

This is a story about how a person left a contradiction that threatened to destroy a doomed life, and masterfully fulfilled his mission.

Father Artemy, Isidor Burah, was a smart person, and understood that in such a backwood there was a huge chance to grow out of his son not a wise shaman-mentor, but a male maniac with a gopnik maniac. Therefore, he sent his son to the capital – an enlightened and free place from strange traditions and superstitions – to enter a medical institute for the specialty of a surgeon. Artemy slightly did not have time to finish the last course when he comes an alarming letter from his father. Having thrown everything, Artemy goes back to the steppe, only for purely random circumstances (“a crowd with a pitchfork” was revealed), he is recorded in the edematians and the tsareubians at once. Like, Isidore banged for the inheritance and Simon for power. He has to pole his name, returning the reputation, separately from Dankovsky, to find the truth with his methods, to influence the fate of the city and the steppe … well, to fulfill his purpose: to guess. And to guess – cut.

From the point of view of the mechanics of the game, the guruspik is a character designed specifically for the second passage. The player should already be familiar with the traditions of the steppe, otherwise he will stumble out in the blue, get comfortable with the management and methods of survival. Guruspik – character for hardcores. He is good in battle, especially in the neighbor, but in the "sea" it is much more important to be able to fight a disease that you really can’t give a face. He knows the traditions of the steppe, but almost every second one is hostile to him, unlike a bachelor. He almost never has money, but on homeless people and barter he can get almost more than Dankovsky. But there is an indisputable plus: only local chemistry is available to the guruspik (alchemy?) – the manufacture of tinctures on alcohol, organs and blood, and herbs: lashes, saveure and twiri.

Acquaintance with the impostor begins with these words:

Clara saw a dream. In a foggy morning, she opens the gate and wanders somewhere, turning her legs with her feet wet piles of fallen leaves. A familiar voice entangles her by name. She raises her eyes and sees that her twin sister points to the old man who is convulsed and screams from terrible flour. Clara rushes to the old man to heal his touch. But her sister immediately seeks to touch the patient! Girls look at each other in confusion. This is a story about how a thief chose a past and turned from a blind gun into a free miracle worker.

The beginning of her story is already intriguing – Clara crawled out of the fresh grave, without remembering anything, without remembering, and even more so without property and without a penny in his pocket. She cannot remember who she was before and how she got into the city, but she feels some bright power in herself and wants to accomplish a miracle. It is called differently: either thieves, then plague, then holy. She is not trusted, taking for a twin sister, who is met in plague quarters. But whether her twin sister is true, or is it just a fiction of Clara herself? With her own hands, she can heal and kill, she is given to penetrate the souls of people and force them to tell the truth. She will have to deal with her past, create a common present and, perhaps, dispose of someone else’s future.

Imagine a little girl. Well, for an extreme, a teenager, but really not an adult girl. An orphan, and even with a broken memory. From the first seconds of awareness, she needs to survive in a very harsh world. She is childishly naive and good, she has an acute sense of justice, but almost no one is fair to her. She does not want anyone to be evil, but many ignorant people driven by dogmas want her angry. It is sensitive to the "atmosphere", to the spirit of what is happening ahead, but after all, the plague is around, decline. She has a gift, and because of this, adults-a scientist, a fortuneteller, a spiritual mentor, an entrepreneur, a sheriff, a bandit, an inquisitor, a military and whole herd of all sorts of half-educated Chukchi and generally nonhumans (in the literal sense of the word)-require her “correct” in their opinion the use of this gift, and everyone also has their own understanding of this very “right”, on the basis of which they are constantly “getting together”. yourself, pulling the poor thing from corner to corner. Those who are pretty to her and promised her happiness turn away from her at a decisive moment, without even understanding the situation. And those who are ready to sincerely protect her, she is afraid to trembling in her knees. She is a child, let it be strange and unusual, smart and wise, but a child who needs protection. And on her shoulders they take responsibility for the fate of the whole city. This is what gives the third plot to feel.

The plot of impostor is an almost undisguised false complexity. A fragile girl who can only “cast” a curse or blessing almost on random, from weapons to use only a double -barreled ladies’ gun and a scalpel. She can fight with the plague literally, you should rely only on her miracles. She has no access to scientific equipment or alchemy. Her close associates are interesting characters, but, nevertheless, local blue and miserable. Moreover, it is also necessary to follow the tongue and hands – the reputation of Clara increases reluctantly and mainly due to the protection of the close associates, but it falls for each “bad” action twice as much as for the same action in a bachelor or guruspik. Nevertheless, it is her plot that is most focused not on survival, not action or gathering, not on solving complex problems or detective, but on chatter with NPC. However, it is this “chatter” that plays, if not the most important, then one of the most important roles. Both in the plot and in the understanding of this world by you, the player.

I would also like to mention music, which creates a significant part of the whole atmosphere. It is unfortunate that there is no player on the site, so I will leave links to tracks. When you first go beyond the bachelor on another night street under, so goosebumps run through the body and everything around is filled with a mystical mood.

But before the game meets us with music in the main menu of the game, which also immediately creates the image of something very exciting and unusual in aggregate with the image in the main menu, as if it tolerates you somewhere far away, locks you in a dark room, and you feel fear and anxiety, as if your own thoughts are mocking you.

Well, something like that, I don’t want to paint the gameplay, and this was not the essence of this article, I just wanted to introduce you to the amazing and charming world of the “Mora” by which I walked only from above and interest you.

I hope after reading the article you will go and buy this game on Steam. I advise you to first familiarize yourself with the first part and go at least once for a bachelor, and then you can familiarize yourself with the second part, which is being finalized and bringing the mechanics of the main game to perfection. But it is worth warning that the game is very difficult and exhausting, it has a high threshold of entry, but so conceived in order to convey the entire atmosphere of hopelessness and despondency.

Mor should not be perceived as a simple game. Mor is a game game. Playing mor, I felt as if I were reading a huge book with beautiful illustrations and plot. Mor is what games can be called art. I really love this game and I hope that ICE-Pick Lodge will be fine and they will make the company of bachelors and impostors for the second part, and there may be a third part (of course, the chance is extremely small, but I believe in the best).
